PATERSON, NJ — On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Mayor Andre Sayegh joined Servant’s Heart Ministry and other community leaders for the groundbreaking of The Great Falls Center. The event marked the beginning of Phase 2 of renovations at 39 McBride Avenue Extension, furthering the transformation of the historic structure into a hub for community and creativity.

The Great Falls Center is already home to Servant’s Heart Ministry’s Workmanship Trades Training & Mentoring Program and a premier event space overlooking Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. The next renovation phase will restore the building’s historic character, enhance its exterior appearance, and make it accessible and functional for future community programs.

Servant’s Heart Ministry acquired the building at 39 McBride Avenue Extension in 2021 through a generous donation. Since then, the nonprofit — in partnership with Dawn Treader Christian School — has raised more than $2 million to gut and redesign the building’s interior for community use. The upcoming $6 million renovation phase will create a food hall featuring local culinary businesses, auditorium spaces, and a rooftop restaurant with views of the Great Falls. The center will provide educational training, job opportunities, and gathering spaces for the Paterson community and beyond.
