New Hope Ministries Food Pantry and Counseling Center Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting in Prospect Park

Based on a project update from LAN Associates.

PROSPECT PARK, NJ — Servant’s Heart Ministry joined partners and community members on Wednesday, October 29, to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of a new food pantry and counseling center for New Hope Community Ministries at 321 North 11th Street in Prospect Park.

The project is part of Servant’s Heart Ministry’s ongoing work to improve quality of life in under-resourced communities through renovation projects and trades training. For this build, Servant’s Heart Ministry partnered with LAN Associates, the engineering, planning, architecture, and surveying firm that provided discounted architecture, construction administration, and electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and civil engineering services. The work involved a complete remodel of an existing building along with a significant addition, including a new elevator and expanded square footage on every floor.

“The successful completion of an architecture and engineering project is always gratifying, but when the building design was driven by a mission that serves a community in need, cutting the ribbon on a new facility evokes a special feeling of purpose.”

— Chris Borduin, Senior Associate & Architect, LAN Associates

Most of the first floor is dedicated to the food pantry, with a bright, welcoming hallway that serves as a comfortable waiting area. Designed around dignity, accessibility, and community connection, the pantry is expected to serve more than 2,000 individuals each year, allowing enrolled families to schedule appointments to pick up both shelf-stable and fresh, nutritious food.

The second floor houses counseling and staff offices, where individuals, families, and neighborhood youth can meet with a licensed therapist in warm, private spaces. The third floor features a community event space with large windows and views toward New York City, opening onto a brick-patio courtyard for outdoor gatherings, classes, and celebrations — all accessible by the new elevator.

“This is our second major renovation project with New Hope Community Ministries in the past 10 years, and one of many projects we have worked on alongside Servant’s Heart Ministry. I know I speak for all of LAN’s contributing team members when I say we are honored to work alongside both of these wonderful and generous organizations to aid in such a worthy cause.”

— Matthew Wolfe, Vice President, LAN Associates

Members of the community, partner organizations, local churches, and the mayor of Prospect Park attended the ceremony. The project was made possible by the generous contributions of those who support both Servant’s Heart Ministry and New Hope Community Ministries.
